“Having no bunion pain any longer has made life so much easier.”

Working behind a desk in a school office with a bunion didn’t keep Megan from doing her job. But, the campus was so large that getting around wasn’t as easy as it once was. The Springdale, Arkansas mother of three had an increasingly painful bunion; a bone deformity caused by an unstable joint that allows the big toe to drift out of alignment and progressively worsens over time.

Not only did it cause her to be limited in footwear options, but her foot pain was intense, lasting “for hours if not days at times.” With “three kids who keep me busy, there were definitely days where I didn’t want to go to certain events or participate in activities because of how long I would be on my feet. Or how much walking would be done,” she explains. Her bunion pain even caused her to completely stop her exercise routine. She “couldn’t walk far, much less jog, or do any exercise videos.”

Last summer while logged into her Facebook account a Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction ad appeared in her feed, so she commented — asking to see before and after photos. “A woman in the Carolinas sent me a Facebook message with before and after photos of her treated foot which was so much more severe than mine,” says Megan. Shortly after that Facebook chat ended, Megan visited the AlignMyToe.com URL and searched for a doctor in her area who could perform the Lapiplasty® Procedure.

“I knew about the traditional old-style bunion surgery, but I heard it was an awful recovery. I didn’t like the fact it shaved the bone. To me, the Lapiplasty® Procedure was the logical solution. I wanted the best opportunity to fix my bunion the first time and then not worry about it ever again,” shares Megan. Dr. Dean E. Bright of Bright Foot Clinic in Springdale explained Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction would correct the bunion in all three dimensions and use special titanium plates to secure the unstable joint.

In August, Megan had the Lapiplasty® Procedure on her right foot. She was non-weight bearing for six days. “I was in a boot for eight weeks since Dr. Bright was conservative, but he was happy with my x rays and healing before the eight weeks,” she shares. Less than four months later, she opted to have the Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction done on her left foot as well. This time around, Megan was weight-bearing in the walking boot on day three and experienced minimal “discomfort, wouldn’t call it pain.”

Megan’s husband was actually surprised at “how little pain I was in after the surgery.” He took off work to assist her after her Lapiplasty® Procedure “but didn’t have to be around all that long.” Her children were also concerned about how the surgery would affect her attendance at events with them. Her son carried her bags into the school for her, when she returned to work, but didn’t have to do anything else. “Two days before my second surgery, my left foot was throbbing because of the bunion pain. There’s absolutely no pain now. Dr. Bright fixed the problem.”

Megan is now back on her feet and says, “having no bunion pain any longer has made life so much easier.” When asked for advice for potential Lapiplasty® patients she says “I’d recommend getting the Lapiplasty® surgery. Go for it!”
